PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
To ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects, please follow these guidelines before your RHA treatment:
• Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to any special event to account for possible swelling or bruising.
• Avoid dental procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
• Discontinue Aspirin, NSAIDs, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids for 3–7 days before and after treatment to reduce bruising. (Consult your physician before stopping prescribed medications.)
• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 24–48 hours before and after treatment.
• Taking Arnica supplements 2 days prior may help minimize bruising.
• Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores — an antiviral may be prescribed if needed.
• Avoid treatment if you have an active rash, irritation, or infection in the area.
• RHA treatments are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
After your RHA treatment, minor redness, swelling, or tenderness may occur. Follow these steps to ensure proper healing and optimal results:
• Redness or sensitivity may last a few hours post-treatment.
• Use Tylenol for discomfort — avoid NSAIDs unless directed.
• Avoid pressing, massaging, or manipulating the treated area unless instructed by your provider.
• Avoid makeup for at least 12 hours.
• Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
• Avoid excessive sun or heat for 72 hours.
• Apply a cool compress for swelling if needed, 15 minutes per hour.
• Sleep face-up with head slightly elevated to minimize swelling.
• Postpone dental procedures for 2 weeks.
• Wait at least 2 weeks before other facial treatments (facials, lasers, massages, or microdermabrasion).
• Any remaining RHA syringes will be held for 8 weeks for touch-ups if necessary.
